lavabo bowl 2Football Fun

On Sunday, February 7th, we got down and dirty with a fun game of flag football. Members of our parish, adults and children, played on the main lawn grid iron for this pre-Superbowl event as the Protestant Panthers took on the Catholic Cougars. We even had cheerleaders and an official referee. It was our first event of hopefully many to come as the Cougars pulled off a narrow victory, excommunicating the Panthers, 24-18. All who are interested in carrying out this football tradition should contact Joe Catalano This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or Fr. Father Jon Roberts

Please allow me to personally invite you to join us in our common fellowship and worship of our risen Lord, Jesus Christ.

In 2007, my family and I returned to the Diocese of Southwest Florida after three years of training at Nashotah House Theological Seminary in Nashotah, Wisconsin. We were called to come to Good Shepherd that same year and discovered the parishioners of this church prioritized being a warm and friendly people. Fellowship and love for one another, in the name of Christ, is an ongoing mission and I hope that you will come and discover this for yourself.

Good Shepherd is a holy place beholding of a genuine love and nature that comes from Almighty God. There is a spiritual renewal evident from the moment we break bread and share the chalice at the Holy Eucharist as well as from our covenant once, and for all, established through Holy Baptism.

Through these outward and visible signs of love and fellowship, there is an inward and spiritual grace in our communion that comes from God above. If you so desire to come here, you will hopefully come to similar conclusions, observing this rite of passage that brings you into the body of Christ. Therefore, when we invite you into our church, we are inviting you not simply into our lives but rather into the richness of life that is centered on Christ.

God will meet you in the face of all your challenges at Good Shepherd. He will guide you along a true and righteous path for His name sake. He will call you to be like an obedient sheep, trusting in Him. He will call you to be like a nurturing shepherd, loving those placed under your care. Keeping your eyes set on the Son of God, Jesus Christ, you will  find yourself led beside the still water of His goodness and the green pasture of His mercy. On this path you will grow in all truth and wisdom, strengthened by bonds of affection with Him and one another.

Please come join us in worship and in fellowship.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you forever more.

The Rev. Jon Roberts

Verse of the Day

1 Peter 3:15
“But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,”
