The Rt. Rev. Dabney Smith - The Fifth Diocesan Bishop of The Diocese of Southwest Florida.
After his seminary training at Nashotah House in Wisconsin, he became an assistant priest in the diocese of Central Florida. He and his wife eventually moved to Trinity Episcopal in Lousiana where he was rector, but he has said that his return to Florida was a return to home. Bishop Dabney was consecrated as Bishop Coadjutor in 2007, and shortly thereafter, he became our Diocesan Bishop. His goals are clearly laid out for our diocese and we are privileged to serve under his guidance. He is currently headquartered at the diocesan office located off University Dr. in Sarasota but he intends to return the base of operations back to the Dayspring Episcopal Conference Center in Ellenton.

The Rev. Jon Roberts - Rector
Father Jon arrived at Good Shepherd after receiving a Masters in Divinity at Nashotah House Theological Seminary, Nashotah, Wisconsin, in May of 2007. He moved here together with his wife and their two children in Venice. Prior to his seminary training, he spent ten years in scientific research in the fields of oncology and molecular biology. At East Carolina University and Duke University, in North Carolina he grew in the area of academics gaining valuable experience in both science and administration.
Father Jon understands the physical complexities that go into the living organism, known as the Church, but it is his spiritual training that proves most beneficial for one called to lead a congregation. His spiritual formation began quite early, being dedicated to the Church as an infant and later becoming baptized at the age of twelve. The journey has taken him from the rural Assemblies of God (Pentecostal) in Durham, NC as a child to the metropolitan Church of the Redeemer (Episcopal) in Sarasota, FL as an adult. Between this period, stretching nearly four decades he has been exposed to both evangelical and catholic church settings. His worship experience has been everywhere from low church, to broad church to high church. Serving as a part-time youth minister from 1993-1996 at First Baptist in Hillsborough, NC, then subsequently, full-time from 2000-2004 at Redeemer in Sarasota, Father Jon also has invested a significant amount of time alongside young people from the ages of cradle to college. He observes a similar "young at heart" attitude with the elderly population who he shepherds frequently in Venice. His passion is to grow churches by bringing people specifically to the center of Christ through The Sacraments of Holy Baptism and Holy Eucharist. It is his emphasis on the incarnation of God made flesh in Jesus that resonates in his sermons and spiritual guidance.

Christine Gladden - Nursery Attendant
Christine took on the ministry of our nursery beginning in December 2008 with a heart for loving children. Our church has continually discussed growing families and having a safe, warm and embracing nursery is a step in that direction. Her full time work is being a care provider who sits with elderly and disabled people in their homes, assisting them with necessary provisions. Christine is fully certified in the required National Episcopal Church course, Safeguarding God's Children.
